Joan Lawrence was completely surprised when she was presented with the award by the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, Dr Ruth Smith. 
Former High Sheriff Venetia Wrigley, former Lions Presidents Rev Canon John Manchester and Lindsay Wrightson, together with current Lions Club President Jim Lowry watched the presentation. BBC York’s Elly Fiorentini helped get Joan to the Talbot in Malton for the presentation.
